Slavery, while illegal in the NCR and other settlements of well-meaning peoples, is rampant throughout the wasteland. Sometimes, a slave escapes, or is given a new lease on life by winning a gladiatorial battle, and these people oftentimes become adventurers with nothing else to turn to.
